Care and Supervision

Hostel staff provide a very high standard of care and supervision for students. Pastoral-care staff are lead by the Director of Boarding and the Boarding Manager. They are assisted by Boarding Supervisors and all live on-site and share the 24/7 care of hostel students. Student life is based on mutual respect and a key feature is the lack a traditional student hierarchy. Our small number of students means our adult to student ratio is very high.

Hostel staff care for the physical health, emotional and day-to-day needs of students. Extensive academic monitoring and support is also provided to students through our Prep programme, and hostel staff and teachers liaise regularly. As well as this students have significant opportunities to contribute to hostel living – helping to plan menu developments, weekend activities, special functions and being represented on the Hostel Sub-committee of the Board of Trustees.

Our mission is to provide a safe, family-like living environment, where what we do supports student learning, and the wellbeing of every child is at the centre of our actions.
