Sport Opportunities

Dunstan High School recognises the physical and social benefits of sport and views its students’ involvement in sport as an important component to their personal growth and development.

Sports teams and individuals are well supported by staff, sports clubs and the wider community who volunteer their time to coach and manage sports teams and activities within the school.

Dunstan High School is regarded as the premier sporting school in the Central Otago and Lakes Districts

Sport Coordinator
The school employs a Sports coordinator  whose responsibility it is to oversee the management and administration of all sports within the school.

School Sports Exchanges
The school competes in a number of interschool exchanges each year including arranged visits from overseas schools.

Inter-house Competitions
As well as the annual Athletics and Swimming Sports days inter-house competitions are organised (each term) with emphasis being on fun, involvement and participation. These competitions provide opportunities for the whole school to become involved.

Annual Secondary School Sports Tournaments
The school actively encourages its sports teams to attend Otago, South Island and/or National Secondary School Sports Tournaments.

The school has a proud tradition at these tournaments with a number of its teams and individuals gaining recognition and/ or National status within their respective sporting codes.
