School Involvement in the Cromwell Racecourse RMP Consultation

Central Otago District Council is consulting on a project that we think the readers of your school newsletters will be interested in, including parents, teachers and especially students!

Have your say on the Draft Cromwell Racecourse Reserve Management Plan

Central Otago District Council is asking for feedback on the Draft Cromwell Racecourse Reserve Management Plan. We want to hear from everyone, including young people.

This plan will guide how the Cromwell Racecourse Reserve on Ripponvale Road is used in the future. It also considers the wider network of sports fields in Cromwell, including Anderson Park and Alpha Street Reserve. With Cromwell’s population expected to grow by over 26 percent in the next 15 years, now is the time to plan for more sports fields, play spaces and recreation areas.

The plan looks at how to balance current equestrian use with a broader range of future recreational opportunities for the community.

Hard copies of the plan and submission forms are available at all of Council’s Service Centres and Libraries, as well as the Cromwell Pool and Cromwell College.

There will also be a drop-in session at the Cromwell Service Centre on Tuesday 4 June from 4 to 6pm. Come along to ask questions and talk with Council staff.

Your voice matters. Whether you play sport, use local parks or just want more places to spend time outside, this is your chance to help shape the future of Cromwell’s public spaces.

We would also welcome engagement from Central Otago schools too. If you want to chat with us directly please respond to this email.

You can read the draft plan and make a submission at: lets-talk.codc.govt.nz/cromwell-racecourse-reserve-management-plan
