On Thursday the 24th of March the inaugural Mount Aspiring College Downhill Champs took place at a very cold, foggy and windy Cardrona.

Nine students from DHS joined students from Cromwell, Queenstown and Wanaka to race down the ‘Archadia’ track. Students had two hours of practice in the morning, before one timed race run in the afternoon.

Grace Moir was 3rd in the Senior Girls and Milla Druce was also 3rd in the Intermediate Girls.

Cam Moir was 3rd in the Intermediate Boys, with Jack Sole beating him by one second to gain 2nd place. Other students to race were Steffi Moss, Jack Sisson, Flynn Ealson, Otis Battrick and Mason Broome, some for the first time in a schools event.

After a hard day of riding and racing most students rode the peak to pub track from the top of the mountain to the valley floor with some pretty sore hands and forearms.
