Able Minds has launched the EduConnect Attendance Service, a dedicated, wraparound support service designed to help ākonga re-engage with learning in ways that feel safe, achievable, and meaningful.
Their goal is simple: to walk alongside young people and their whānau so they can reconnect with education and thrive.
EduConnect recognises that attendance challenges are often influenced by a wide range of factors, such as anxiety, family pressures, peer relationships, learning needs, or feeling disconnected from the school environment. Every ākonga has a unique story, so we begin by understanding the “why” behind non-attendance. From there, we work collaboratively with ākonga, whānau, and schools to build realistic, sustainable pathways back into learning.
EduConnect supports tamariki and Rangatahi aged 5–16 through trauma‑informed, identity-affirming outreach and tailored casework. Our team partners closely with whānau, schools, and community providers to remove barriers and strengthen engagement through:
- Mental health and wellbeing support
- Confidence building and mentoring
- Advocacy and home–school communication support
- Assistance with school transitions
- Practical problem-solving and connection to wider services
Our focus goes beyond simply returning ākonga to school- we aim to build resilience, strengthen identity, and lay the foundations for long-term educational success.
EduConnect is available across Central Otago/Queenstown Lakes, Waitaki, and Clutha, providing local support that understands the unique needs of each region’s communities.
