DHS Softball Update

The boys and girls teams have returned from a successful, albeit quick, 2 day Canterbury Invitational Softball Tournament.

The girls finished the tournament in 5th place. Day 1 produced a big win against Ashburton 23-0, a loss to Riccarton/Hornby 1-20, before bouncing back with a 16-7 win over the Te Kura Whakapumau team. Day 2 brough more challenges starting with a 16-1 loss to Avonside Girls. The second game was against the Haeata Community Campus team going down 4-11. The final game was an exciting showdown against an evenly matched Otago Girls going down 5-11.

A huge effort from the entire team across the tournament. A special congratulations to Zoe Reinds and Angel Bruce on being named as the team MVPs. A huge thank you to the coaches Courtney Milne and Simone Keane and the management team of Karla and Kris Robb

The boys started well on Monday beating St Bedes in a close game 6-2. They followed up with a strong game against Rangiora beating them 16-2. They finished the day beating James Hargest 17-1. Day 2 started with a game against a slick Shirley Boys team losing 17-6. They finished the tournament with a win against Ashburton 22-0. Tane O'Neill pitched a perfect game with no Ashburton players making onto base. Congratulations to Tane O'Neill and Jake Mullally for being named as the team's tournament MVPs. Thank you to coaches Rueben O'Neill and Kevin O'Neill, and manager Hayley O'Neill.
