DHS sent their four flagship teams to the annual Otago Secondary Tournament held at the Edgar Centre in Dunedin.

The tournament did not get off to a good start for the Senior A's when Avie Morgan (captain
of the A's) came down with a violent stomach bug and therefore was unable to participate in
day one of the tournament.
The first game for the A's was against St Kevins in Oamaru and
they went down in a narrow loss 25 -22. They then played another Oamaru School and went
down 23 - 15. This put them in the unfortunate position of being in the bottom four in their
pool so they had to play a playoff game at 4.15pm against Queens High which they won 26 -
24.
Monday morning rolled around to play South Otago with the end result being a draw.
With two games left to play the girls gave it everything during their next game against Otago
Girls coming away with a win of 32 - 15 but couldn’t quite stay consistent in their final game
against Queens High School 22 - 31.
Well done Senior A girls, you fought hard!
The senior B's started well with a 12 - 10 win against Trinity, they then put up a determined
fight against a strong Columba College team to go down 31 - 15. There were some moments
of brilliance but Columba came out on top. The third game of the day was against Queens
and unfortunately went down 18 - 12.
On Monday morning the girls had an early start to the day, taking on South Otago - unfortunately losing 16 - 22
but picked themselves back up and took the win 21 - 16 against Saint Kevins.
Taking them through to play for 7th/8th and finishing up in 7th - taking the win against Trinity 15 - 13.
Well done to our Senior B Girls!
The 10 A's beat Taieri convincingly 29 -7, then Trinity 24 - 12 but lost to St Hilda's 25 - 16
and will be playing off for top 8.
Unfortunately the draw for Monday means that they will meet a tough Columba team. 29 - 9 loss to Columba followed by a comfortable win against Saint Kevins College to play for 5th/6th. Unfortunately the girls just weren’t quite strong enough totake the win from Hilda’s, so 6th it is - we’re so proud of you girls.
The 9A's also played Taieri in their first game winning 39 - 10, and also played Trinity who
they beat 46 - 7. They however beat St Hilda's 31 - 15 so will also be playing off for a top 8
finish.
The 9's then went on to play Columba on Monday morning and came away with the
win 13 - 15. Sending them to the Semi finals against MAC, a convincing win of 15 - 24 meant
they were in the 9A Finals against Cromwell College. A Fantastic Central Otago final,
unfortunately Cromwell came out on top 15 - 12. Well done to our 9A girls, we’re looking
forward to seeing what you can do at Junior SISS in Christchurch in July.
Final placings
Senior A - 10th (Div 1)
Senior B - 8th (Senior B Grade)
10A 6th (10A)
9A - 2nd (9A)
Another full on couple of days for our Netball girls, Coaches & Managers!
