Casey Armstrong has spent the first half of this year on a Gateway Work placement, spending one day each week at Kidsfirst Kindergarten’s Terrace.

Casey has spent time supporting the children with play based learning which has allowed her to develop her communication and a better understanding of the skills that are important when working with children. 

Casey specifically enjoyed working with different groups of children and observing how all of their interests differed and what strategies worked best for interacting with each of them.

Casey is now planning to spend the second half of the year on a work placement at a local primary school so she can make an informed decision about whether she wants to pursue a career in early childhood or primary teaching.
