This week we are starting our processes for electing our school leaders for 2027. The first of these is the student BOT representative.
The student representative is elected by the school students each year at the student election. This is held every September, and the student representative is on their board until the next year’s election.
Boards of state and state-integrated schools with students above Year 9 must have a student representative (unless they have an approved alternative constitution that does not require one).
The role of the student representative is no different to that of any other board member. They have equal standing, voice, accountability, and vote, but they can’t be the presiding member (neither can the principal or staff representative).
They are the student voice on the board, just as the parent and staff representatives are the voices for the parent and staff communities of the school.
Standing for election as the student representative can be a bit daunting, but there’s plenty of help and support available.
There are some great benefits for a student representative, such as having a voice on how the school is governed, and gaining valuable knowledge and experience – it will look great on a CV!
Any student enrolled full-time in Year 9 and above, and under the age of 20, is eligible to stand for election and vote.

The second positions that we are looking to fill are the Head student roles.
As the Head Students, you are the student face of our school. You are expected to serve as role models by upholding the school values at all times and leading by example across all areas of school life, including Academic achievement, Sports, Culture, and Arts.
If students are interested in either of these positions they can collect a nomination form from the school office. If students would like a copy of the job description for these positions they should check with Mr Clapham or look at the attached pdf documents.

Thursday 3rd September Voting closes (4pm) (Week 7 Tournament Week)
Votes counted by Wednesday 9th September. (Week 8)
Announcement once a candidate has accepted the position.
