Well done Lucy Cammell and Elli Kiuru!

Lucy (pictured) has been working very hard this year on reaching her goals. 

She qualified for and recently attended the 2026 NZ Secondary School Swimming Championships in Auckland.

We were very proud of her efforts as she fully funded this by raising $2,000 through sponsorships and grants.

This provided huge learning for her and provided her with valuable experience in both grant writing and sponsorship communication with businesses.

Lucy wanted to very much point out that Elli Kiuri (Yr 10) also attended and actually achieved a far greater ranking than her own (I think Elli got 3rd in 14 year old girls, a bronze podium finish for one of her races).  Lucy got 11th in her 50m breastroke for 14 year old girls in NZ Secondary Schools as well as two personal bests and one qualifying time (50m breaststroke) for April 2027 15 year old NAGS in Hawkes Bay.  (NAGS is the New Zealand Age Group Swimming Championships. It is a national long-course (50 m pool) championship where New Zealand's strongest age-group swimmers compete for national titles – the qualifying times are tough but Lucy is determined to also qualify for her 100m and 200m breastroke which she is on track to achieve in the next month or so).
