Last week was an incredibly busy and action-packed time for Dunstan sports, with seven of our teams competing in tournaments across the South Island.

While it was a building year for many of our codes, every squad represented the school with outstanding effort, grit, and spirit.

Here is a summary of how our teams fared across the week:

Netball: The squad traveled to Nelson for the South Island Secondary Schools (SISS) competition. Competing in the top A Grade, the girls fought hard in several tight matches, finishing 17th overall and taking home the A Grade Plate.

Ice Hockey: Competing in the A Grade, the Dunstan Combined team had a stellar tournament. After tough matches against Wakatipu and JMC, they secured strong wins over King's High School and OBHS. Following a semifinal battle against Waka Gold, they bounced back to beat JMC and claim 3rd place.

Girls Hockey: Facing tough competition in Timaru, the team finished 3rd in pool play before mounting a strong run in post-pool play to finish 9th overall.

Boys Hockey: Battling harsh weather conditions in Invercargill, the team showed true resilience. After an early pool-play loss to Waitaki Boys' High School, the boys got their revenge in the 7th/8th playoff, clinching 7th place in a thrilling penalty shootout.

Boys Football: The First XI headed to Dunedin for the annual Linwood Tournament. Despite a tough run on the scoreboard, morale stayed sky-high thanks to exemplary leadership from our Year 12 and 13 seniors. Their outstanding sportsmanship was rewarded with the tournament Fair Play Award.

U15 Rugby: Competing at the Rural Livestock U15 tournament in Westport, the team capped off their week on a high note by defeating St Peter's College to secure 9th place.

Boys Basketball: Taking a small squad to Dunedin, the boys battled through a series of close encounters, finishing 11th overall after a hard-fought playoff victory over Menzies College.

A massive thank you to all of our coaches, managers, and parent volunteers who took time off work and gave up their week to support our athletes and make these trips possible!
