Seaweek 2023 Ocean Champion Challenge
Seaweek 2023 Ocean Champion Challenge
The Ocean Champion Challenge is about celebrating the work of passionate ocean advocates and sharing their stories to inspire others.

Share your Ocean Champion story with us in a short video (2-4 minutes in length) celebrating the work of passionate ocean advocates and sharing their stories to inspire others. Nominate your class or Enviro group by the 31st March 2023 and be in to win prizes!

Here are a few ideas of things you could try with your group:  Adopt a beach or waterway to keep clean.  Make a mural in your classroom from rubbish you collected and tell us the story. Conduct an inquiry into what actions the class could take to reduce their overall rubbish. You could even implement your ideas into the whole school.  As well as doing something good for the planet, we have some really fantastic prizes up for grabs as an extra incentive to participate. Check out the Ocean Champion Challenge page for more info!

This year, from Saturday, 4 March to Sunday, 12 March Seaweek will showcase and promote a wide range of activities and opportunities across the motu. There are an endless number of ways to get involved in the national celebration of the sea. You are invited to join in by participating in snorkelling and paddling events, local conservation initiatives, beach clean-ups, film screenings, art workshops and citizen science projects all over New Zealand! Check out seaweek.org.nz/whats-on  to browse events that will inspire renewed connections with your community and your local waters.  If you are planning an activity for Seaweek, let us know! You can tag us @seaweek on Facebook or @nzaeseaweek on Instagram in your #seaweek posts so we can share the love.
