Showquest Performance in Invercargill
On Monday 20th June a group of 40 students took off down south to Invercargill to perform at the Southland/Otago regional Showquest Competition.

Showquest is New Zealand’s largest performing art competition involving student-led choreography, lighting and technology and wearable arts; this year was Dunstan's second time competing. This show is a great opportunity for the students at Dunstan that have an interest in dance and performance to showcase their talents. Because of COVID 19 there was no live audience allowed, but this didn’t stop the kids from performing their hearts out. This year, choreographers Rose Wearing and Vanessa Gallagher chose the theme of Climate Change with the hope of spreading awareness for the melting ice caps and the devastation that rising sea levels will have. They’ve put together this performance since August last year with the support of the wonderful Mrs Barnes, Julie Ruffell and Mr Meissel. The students faced challenges surrounding attendance because of rostering and sickness but still managed to get everyone together whether online or during lunchtime which was a huge effort. Rose, Vanessa and the Showquest team are so excited to present the digital performance and the results of the competition next week!

Please enjoy some backstage photos taken while the students were getting ready for their performance.

Professional photos were taken of the actual performance and will be available to view shortly.
